Stepping Out

I am stepping out of my comfort zone and into my personal power.

I am stepping out this year.  Out of my comfort zone and into the great unknown.  I am expecting BIG things.

What happens when doubt or fear start to creep in?  Check your Solar Plexus.  Are you plagued with self-doubt?  Are you always second guessing yourself?  You may need to get this chakra in balance.

7 Main Chakras
7 Main Chakras

Chakra is a Sanskrit word meaning wheel.  Aligned along the spine, they are the energy centers of the body.  There are seven main chakras; each corresponds to different areas and organs of the material body, fueling it with life force.  The flow of energy through our chakras influence our spiritual, mental, emotional, physical health and well-being.  When energy flows freely through the chakra system we feel connected, supported, and in tune.  If the flow of energy is impeded, we will feel disconnected, drained, or out of sorts.  Physical ailments may manifest.

The Solar Plexus, also known as the third chakra, is where the ego resides.  It is what or who our mind perceives us to be.  This chakra governs our sense of self, our personal power, self-esteem, our vitality, and will. Located approximately two to three inches above the navel, the Solar Plexus is where the energies from our environment and from people around us enter in.  Have you ever had that ‘gut feeling’ something or someone just wasn’t right?  That’s your Solar Plexus warning you.

Someone with a healthy Solar Plexus will often feel a sense of purpose. They are self-confident and optimistic.  If the third chakra is out of whack, symptoms may include low self-esteem, isolation, depression, frustration, doubt, indecision, pessimism, anger or aggression.  Physical ailments such as stomach problems, indigestion, and ulcers may also signal an imbalance.  Bringing this chakra into balance, can help the healing to begin, and give your confidence a boost.

Balancing the Solar Plexus…

There are so many modalities to choose from.  Each can be used on it’s own or in conjunction with others; mix and match to suit your lifestyle. Listen to your body.  It will let you know what is working and what is not.

Reiki

Reiki, the channeling of energy through the body, is an excellent method to activate the natural healing process.  Combine with crystal therapy to focus and amplify the healing effects.

Meditation / Visualization

Go within to connect with your inner strength.  Activate your solar plexus. Step into your personal power to raise your self confidense and give your self-esteem a boost.  Here is a short meditation to get you started.

Crystal Therapy

I am partial to the gentle energetic flow of crystal therapy.  The Solar Plexus is associated with the color yellow.  Stones such as Amber, Citrine, Tiger’s Eye, Yellow Topaz, and the element gold serve well to balance the Solar Plexus.  My personal favorite is Citrine*.  Crystals may be worn in jewelry, carried in a pocket, or placed on the body during mediation.

Aroma Therapy / Essential Oils

I use aroma therapy by wearing Bergamot, a sweet, citrusy oil, on my wrists.  When I start feeling over whelmed or tense I can quickly take a whiff.   Bergamot helps to disperse stagnant life force energy and alleviate anxiety, stress, and tension.  It also can harmonizes stagnant liver energy by releasing feelings of anger, especially when the anger is turned inward and manifests as depression.

Color Therapy

Get the most out of color therapy by incorporating more yellow into your wardrobe and your environment.  Stimulate your solar plexus by taking a walk in the sunshine.  A bouquet of fresh yellow flowers not only smells great but, combines color therapy with aroma therapy.

Food / Exercise

Let’s not forget the physical body.  Keep the body healthy by feeding it the right fuel and get adequate exercise on a regular basis.  This will also help keep the energy flowing and the chakras balanced.  Consider adding more yellow fruits and vegetables to your diet such as squash, yellow peppers and lemons.  I add lemon to my tea every night.

Concerning health issues, it’s a always a good idea to consult with your physician.  These a just a few ways I have taken a holistic approach in my life to improve my own health and wellness.

So tell me, what are you working on to improve your life?

Be well my friends. Travel on.

*Buyer Beware: Natural Citrine crystals are rare.  Most of the Citrines on the market today are actually heat-treated Amethysts.  Heat-treating will turn the purple into a deep yellow-orange.  Natural Citrine is a pale lemon yellow crystal.
