It’s Never Too Late

I have never been big on resolutions and this year is no different.

So you think the New Year’s ruckus is done, and it’s too late to start over. Think again, my friend.  January 28th heralds in the Chinese New Year of the Red Fire Cock.  The Rooster, as most the westerners call it.  This date kicks off a two-week celebration of the Lunar New Year or Spring Festival.  The date changes from year to year as it falls on the first day of the first lunar cycle.  It celebrates the end of Winter and the beginning of Spring.  When the earth wakes up and comes back to life to start a new cycle of growth.  There is plenty of time!

I have never been big on resolutions and this year is no different.  Here are my top 4 ways to start the year off on the right foot.

1) Physically clear your space of clutter.

If you don’t use it, sell or donate it.  If it is broken, discard it.  I can hear the exasperation in my husband’s voice now…I am a pack-rat.  I cannot help it. I come from a long line of pack-rats, on both sides of the family.  This one will be tough for me.

2) Free yourself from emotional baggage.

Release what ails or burdens you.  Write it down.  Burn it, letting the smoke carry it to the divine for transformation.  Discard the ashes outside.  I prefer to use the fire ring out back.  Surrounded by nature, watching the smoke rise to the heavens is very cathartic for me.  It aids in the release of hurtful things.

3) Energetically cleanse your space.

There are many ways to cleanse the energy in your space.  A Simple Google search will reveal a multitude of methods from salting or smudging, to the use of crystals, to music, to incense.  I prefer the Native American method of smudging with White Sage.  I enjoy the smell of the herb and the rising of smoke to the heavens.  I set my intention.  I ask the divine to clear this space of all that is negative, and unserving.  As I walk through my space, I repeat the intention that only goodness, love and light may enter this space.

4) Heal thyself.

Take a salt bath!  Sam and Dean aren’t the only ones making good use of salt to purify and protect.  [ Side note: Yes, I am a Supernatural freak. ]

Ever wonder why you feel so uplifted and peaceful at the beach?  Salt water is cleansing for your body, your mind, and your spirit.  I prefer to either float in the ocean or sit upon a mountain near a waterfall.  Living in the heart of the Midwest, neither is handy so a salt bath is perfect for me.

A salt water soak will draw toxins and heavy metals out of the body tissues. Your body can absorb the essential trace minerals it needs through the skin.  Circulation increases thereby nourishing the body.  It can also relieve muscular aches, pains and sore joints.  Epsom Salt or Dead Sea Salt is excellent for this.  Throw in some Selenite powder for the perfect cleansing cocktail.

Totally immerse yourself in a cleansing purifying bath.  Choose a time when you will not be disturbed.  Draw a warm bath, add a couple of handfuls of salt.  Even add several drops of your favorite essential oil if you like.  Light some candles, burn some incense, and turn on some relaxing music.  Once again, set your intention.  Exhale.  Release all that is negative and unserving.  Inhale.  Breathe in the pure divine light, love and healing energy.  Let your mind drift to what could be.  Imagine the possibilities.  The New Year is about moving forward, reaching for the stars, and being the best that you can be.

In reality, every day you wake up, is an opportunity to do better as you move forward.

Peace, Love & Blessings to us all. <3
